Lecture at Boston Architectural College
The Boston Architectural College invites the community to join us for Lawrence Halprin and his Legacy: Strategies for Making it Visible, Instilling Value and Empowering Stewards to "Take Part", a public lecture by Charles A. Birnbaum, FASLA, FAAR, president/CEO/founder of èƵ, on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at 6 pm in Cascieri Hall.
Lawrence Halprin (1916-2009) was one of the most influential landscape architects of the 20th century. His revolutionary work - initially at a residential scale that quickly moving to campus designs and reclaiming cities employing new typologies (e.g. capped freeways), was set apart by strong, expressive forms that evoked the structures and processes of nature.
As an introduction to the exhibition, produced in 2016 by èƵ, on the centennial of Halprin's birth, Charles A. Birnbaum, FASLA, president and CEO of the foundation, and co-curator of the exhibition will provide a national overview and strategy for ongoing stewardship and interpretation of Halprin's unrivaled legacy that spans more than a half century, reflecting Modernist and Postmodernist styles across the United States and in Israel.
This event is free and open to the public. More information can be found .
